The Sett Valley House was opened in December 1968, for use by Senior Citizens, and is sited to the rear of Market Street.

The building is owned, and maintained by New Mills Town Council.

The Community Centre is run by the Welfare Committee, with funds raised from hiring of the facilities by local groups for Coffee Mornings on Saturday's.

During the week the facility is used by a local  Play Group on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday morning's; Wednesday morning by the Probus Club; and in the afternoon and evening by the Slimmer's World.

Other Group's using the building include the Flower Club, the Local History and Natural History Societies, who meet once a Month on a Monday (1 st) and Friday (2nd and 3rd) evenings, respectively.
