Saturday 9th February

Millers Go Nap: New Mills 5 - Pennington 0

New Mills took full advantage of a late pitch inspection to soundly beat bottom of the table Pennington at Church Lane on Saturday 9th. With the game barely a minute old Stephen Done, starting his first game of the season after being sidelined by a bad knee injury, slotted the ball into the corner to put the Millers in front. A second goal soon followed when leading scorer Dean Morgan fired a shot which deceived the keeper before dropping into the net.

The Millers kept up the pressure after the break and were awarded a penalty which was well saved by Wilkie in the visitors goal. Done made up for the miss when he slammed the ball home from six yards to increase the Millers lead. Two goals from skipper "Paddy" Littler, the first a flying header after a great move, gave the score-line a more realistic look as New Mills continued to push back their opponents.

This was another vital three points for the Millers and pushed them up to 5th place in the league.
Millers Team: Eaton, Holdgate, Brankin, Morgan G, Ignotus, Dignan, Littler 2, Land, Morgan D, Done 2, Wild, Clarke, Lees, Jones. Attendance 110. Thanks to Match Ball Sponsor Keith McMurray
