Vera L Mellor

My artwork started with sudden flashes of inspiration when doodling about with pencil on paper whilst waiting at the dentist.

Handicraft books and the beautiful countryside of the High Peak spurred me on to start designing my own hand-made cards and calendars

I have lived in the High Peak for almost 24 years now. Back in early 1996 I joined Buxton Art Society, exhibiting along with them at various local venues. I've also had some of my work accepted for the Derbyshire Open Art Competition at Buxton Art gallery on Terrace Road.

Early in my part-time art career I won third prize in a competition at Buxton Art Society, sponsored by High Peak College.

I have lived in New Mills for around 3 years and my artwork has been displayed at the local Heritage Centre and Library. My next exhibition will be at New Mills Adult Education Centre, starting on 5th November 2001.
