A Summer Event

Open-air Garden Theatre, National Tour

Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents one of William Shakespeare's best-loved plays in some of the most magnificent castles and heritage sites throughout Britain.

The production tours from June to September and includes such celebrated venues such as Boughton House ('The English Versailles'), Durham Castle and Hopetoun House near Edinburgh. The venues, chosen for their beautiful gardens, provide the ideal backdrop for the perfect Summer Evening theatrical experience. Gates generally open for picnics before the performance begins.

This young company travels with twelve talented actors, dressed in Elizabethan costumes created by their own costumier. The show also incorporates traditional music and simple, effective staging.

Romeo and Juliet tells the fateful and eternal story of love which conquers all adversity set in the city of Verona, where feuding families fight for supremacy. Romeo of the Montague's and Juliet of the Capulet's fall in love amidst a violent society with inevitable and tragic consequences.
