Joint Exhibition of Paintings

The first joint exhibition by a mother and daughter from Hayfield. Katy, who has just completed a 3-year art course at Chelsea College of Art, says they have similar inspirations, but she uses bright colours, while her mother paints in muted tones associated with the Peak District.

Meet the artists on Saturday 2nd Sept from 5-7pm at the Heritage Centre - refreshments provided.

Art Workshop
Colour and Texture in the Torrs

On Monday 4th Sept Susan and Katy will hold an Art Workshop from 10am to 4pm, meeting up at the Heritage Centre and then exploring the Torrs. The cost is £12 for the day (£8 for under 18s), booking is essential (01663 744233 or 742199), bring your own lunch and art materials.

10.00am - Meet at New Mills Heritage Centre. Here you will have professional advice and tuition, explore techniques, make drawings, paintings and collage, exchange ideas and meet friends.

Spend the morning walking in the Torrs exploring the breadth and richness of late-summer colour and texture in a variety of media and methods. Use your favourite materials as well as learning some new techniques and approaches.

1.OOpm - Lunch

2.00pm - Then in the afternoon make an art work based on the mornings observations or simply continue to be enthralled by the richness and contrast of colour and texture, the drama of light and deep shadow in the Torrs at this time of the year.

4.00pm - A farewell cup of tea
