Fri 23 6-9pm Lantern-making training session - Learn some of Karima Ellis's skills, which she used for those incredible lanterns in the Commonwealth Games finale, and join our team of helpers for our own lantern procession. Library Lecture Room. Free.

Tue 3 19.12pm Klesmic plays on the Folk Train - Catch the 19.12pm train from New Mills Central to Edale and enjoy non-stop playing from this popular Jewish ensemble. After music and refreshment at the Rambler Inn return on the 21.07 train. Hope Valley Rail partnership.
Wed 4 7.30pm Film Night: Monsoon Wedding - see this wonderful film, on a large screen at the Swan at Newtown, and enjoy your pint at the same time. £2.50, bar.
Thur 5 7pm Poems and Pasta - Come to listen or to read, enjoy poetry and food at Gioia Mia cafe. £5, food included, licenced (book in advance at cafe 01663 746893).

Fireworks
at Newtown Rec. Bring your lantern if you have one. Meet by 7pm in the park below New Mills Central Station to join the procession, led by the Samba Band. The route ends at Newtown Rec with fireworks.
8pm 'Final Fling' Ceilidh with High Jinks Band - all the family can join in. New Mills Town Hall. £5/£3 concessions, bar
Sun 22 6.30pm Jubilee Harvest Festival Evensong with the combined choirs of New Mills St George's Church and Disley Parish Church.
