Supporting New Mills Festival 2001
- Fun for All!
New Mills Festival is a non-profit-making Community event. It is organised by a Committee of volunteers. Any balance of the funds from one year goes to finance the development of future Festivals. All accounts are open to public scrutiny.
The aim of the Festival is to provide a wide range of events and activities which appeal to all ages in the local community. Many of the events involve “making and doing” by those who attend. There is equal emphasis on attracting quality performance on the one hand and family participation on the other. The Festival sets out to provide “Fun for All!”

TIME TO UNDERWRITE SUCCESS!

New Mills Festival has definitely come of age. Last year more people than ever flocked to the largest programme of events on offer since the Festival’s beginnings in the 1990s. With Arts, Music, Science and entertainment for all the Family, the second and third weeks of September each year are set aside for wall-to-wall enjoyment.

Plans are already underway for an even more ambitious programme in 2001. The Town Council will again be lending its support to one of the Headline events – word is circulating that this might be a booking for the legendary George Melly.

One date that is firmly fixed is for a repeat on the final Saturday of the hugely popular Lantern-light procession across the Millennium Walkway and through the New Mills historic Torrs.

HAS YOUR BUSINESS PLEDGED ITS SUPPORT FOR THE COMMUNITY?

Planning ahead with confidence

With expenses now escalating above £7,000, organising the Festival is no small financial undertaking! A very cash-conscious Committee turned round last year’s wide-ranging programme with a small surplus to carry forward into 2001 – prudence of which The Chancellor would no doubt approve! However, that was in part thanks to a substantial grant from the “Millennium Festivals for All Lottery Fund” and to generous sponsorship from a local company, Dilworth and Morris, who have unstintingly underwritten part of the Festival for the past four years. Also for Festival 2000, another local firm, Hyperlast, came on board to sponsor the Phil Spellacy Circus Puppets. The Committee and the local Community are grateful for these expressions of support. Without them the Festival cannot meet its ambitious plans.
• It is not possible to promote all events in the expectation that they will pay their way.
• Quality artists cannot be attracted at the rates financed by door takings.
• Outdoor activities are prone to become financial victims of our weather!

WOULD YOUR BUSINESS CONSIDER SPONSORING THE FESTIVAL?

How to become a sponsor

So as to guarantee the growth and development of the Festival, the Committee is seeking to extend the number of its Sponsors. If your Business wants to demonstrate a commitment to the Community, then sign up for Festival 2001. Only you can determine the size of your sponsorship. As a guide, events last year cost anything from £20.00 to £2,000.00 to promote, before receipts and takings. The Committee will be pleased to acknowledge the names of all Sponsors on its publicity materials. Requests for sponsorship to be attached to a specific event can be negotiated once the programme for September is finalised. With assurance of sponsorship income, one area that will undoubtedly benefit will be publicity. Information about the Festival appears in the Press, on the www.newmills.org website and enters every household ready for September. Supported by you, New Mills Festival 2001 will be the greatest yet!

INVEST NOW FOR GROWTH IN SEPTEMBER!
