New Mills Community Bonfire & Fireworks in High Lea Park on Saturday 3rd Nov 2001.

The bonfire was lit by Cllr. Lance Dowson, chairman of New Mills Town Council.

A spectacular display of £4500 fireworks was put on by 'Quicksilver' in the lower park with many varied sky-burst effects. Music and PA were provided by Black Diamond.

The Community Bonfire is organised by a voluntary Bonfire Committee who raise funds throughout the year.

£1800 was collected at the Bonfire and used to support three local groups - £1000 to Kinder Mountain Rescue which they will put toward a stretcher; £500 to St John's Ambulance Brigade; £100 to New Mills Army Cadets who helped build the bonfire.
