Volunteer Rangers
Community activities to improve the New Mills environment.
All activities are officer led, risk assessed, equipment is provided and the range varies so there are things people of all abilities and state of health can enjoy.
Organiser Rachel says, "Volunteers over 18 are welcome to join in, although,as ever, I encourage people to let me know in advance so I can provide enough equipment etc."
A big thank-you to everyone who helped with the recent volunteer activities
in New Mills during the big October 'Clean up':
- reducing height of privett hedge in St George's Churchyard
- construction of boardwalk over muddy ground on footpath from New Mills
Central station down into Mousley Bottom Nature Reserve
- repainting of handrails (just ones previously painted and needing
re-painting) in the Torrs
Please let me know whether you would be able to help to complete the
re-painting of the handrails. We have sanded it down ready for the paint so
a couple of hours with 3 or 4 people should complete it!
The proposed time and date (subject to sufficient people being available AND
WEATHER PERMITTING) is:
1.30 pm until 3.30 pm on Tuesday 6th November (will get dark early as
clocks will have changed).
It is black hammerite paint so please wear old clothes/overalls. We can
supply waterproofs to protect clothes but it depends on the weather whether
they are comfortable or not! We supply disposable latex gloves.
