Ringers - Handbell Team
Our Story
-
The Team was established, by the present leader, over 20 years
ago. Three of the original team are still playing with us.
The nine team members all live in the New Mills, Chapel-en-le
Frith and Hayfield area of High Peak, Derbyshire, close to
the Kinder Scout mountain.
Our
Bells - Kinder Ringers use a set of 44 tuned
handbells made at the Whitechapel foundry in London. They
are traditional English style bells, covering a 3½
octave chromatic range. |

Our
Music -
Kinder Ringers enjoy playing a wide repertoire of music ranging
from traditional tunes to popular classics. New music, especially
arranged for handbells, is added each year. Programmes are selected
with a particular theme or audience in mind.
Bookings
- The team is available for events and concerts in
the local area. It is advisable to book the team 4-6 weeks
in advance so that a suitable programme of music can be carefully
planned and rehearsed. Please note that availability may be
limited at busy times of the year. We ask for a modest fee
to cover travel costs and other expenses. The amount will vary
depending on distance and number of cars used. Charges on
application.
Rehearsals
- These are held weekly in a local church. All our ringers
are members of the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain (HRGB).
The Team travels regularly to perform at Rallies and meet
with ringers from other parts of the country.
Performances
- Events include charity fund raisers, weddings and concerts.
The Team has performed in many interesting venues including:
halls, churches, theatres, garden centres, a stately home
and a donkey sanctuary. Audiences have ranged from church
groups or social clubs to the general public.

Kinder
Ringers performing in St George's Church |
The Team prefers to play
indoors and requires a well-lit level space of approximately 6 x
4 metres. We bring tables, bells and covers. Clear map and directions
will be required, with someone to act as contact on arrival 30-40
minutes before the concert starts. Performances are usually 30-90
minutes in length but individual requirements can be accommodated.
